Anacortes
Ok where was I? It’s been a few days since I have written. We hung out in Anacortes, WA on Monday so we could prepare for a short backpacking/bicycle island hopping trip. Our plan was to go to Vancouver Island, BC and then to hope island to island (by ferry) all the way back to Anacortes. We bought a rack for the back of one of the bikes, and we had to run to Ace hardware to get a couple little things needed to attach it. There were no instructions, but we got it to work. = ) While in Anacortes we also hung out at a place called Jonny Picasso’s and even got to meet “Jonny” (John). A very nice man dedicated to supporting his community. His place is a small novelty shop/coffee shop. There you can also paint your own coffee mug, or blow glass. He teaches classes to children and is working on his own glass piece which will be placed in a new park that is being built. Sandy decided to paint her own coffee mug, and we would pick it up when we returned from our Island hopping trip. While Sandy gave her mug the three coats it needed, I went to the novelty portion of the store and bought a few more bumper stickers for Lenny. You can see all but one in the picture I included. The last sticker read “Faith is a journey, not a guilt trip”. Sandy finished up her mug and we went to a near-by empty lot where we cooked up what food needed to be eaten that we could not easily carry in our packs. We organized what we were going to take with us on our trip and then found a quiet place on the street to sleep. I had a very hard time sleeping, I think we both did. I felt like a kid! So excited to be doing a few days of backpacking = ) Just the open road, a bike, and a pack!!! Simple!
